Daily 1 Min Meditation 171212

1″ The special precepts
These are explained in terms of proscriptive and prescriptive precepts.

lamrim pg 193-194

Our mind is indeed like a monkey jumping from branch to branch or from one tree to another. Taming the monkey mind requires listening to the teachings, holding them in our mind and practising them continuously.
Therefore, broadcasting the message: Do not visit my Ministry of Body. Mind. Spirit blog every day!
has the same effect of requesting u to visit my blog every day once your brain received the message! ????

The Great Nirvirna Sutra states:

Those who go to the three jewels for refuge
Come closer to the virtuous;
They never go
To other deities for refuge.

Those who go to the sublime teaching for refuge
Harbor no harmful, murderous thoughts.
Those who go to the community for refuge
Do not associate with non-Buddhist philosophers.

lamrim pg 194

A postitive learning environment is vital to condition our mind and allow us to progress on this path towards enlighenment. Our peers influenced and shaped our thoughts.

Without a conducive platform to condition our mind, it is very difficult to put into practice the teachings in the beginning when our minds are always grasping for whatever things it came into contact.

This is the significance of proscriptive precepts.
