《大方广佛华严经》——世间大导师 Avatamsaka Sūtra – Excellent Teacher of the World

《华严经》，全称《大方广佛华严经》 (梵文 महावैपुल्यबुद्धावतंसकसूत्र Mahāvaipulya Buddhāvataṃsaka Sūtra），大乘佛教主要经典之一，华严宗亦贤首宗的立宗之经。佛法中法界之根本经典。由实叉难陀翻译，内容有八十卷。华严藏世界之根本经典。与法华经楞严经并称为经中之王。

第四会:

这时佛升向夜摩天宫，夜摩天王庄严殿座迎请如来，说颂赞佛，佛即入座(《升夜摩天宫品》第十九）。

功德林菩萨等微尘数菩萨都来集会，十大菩萨各说偈颂称扬佛周遍法界的行愿功德（《夜摩宫中偈赞品》第二十）。

功德林菩萨由于佛的威力，入善思惟三昧，受到诸佛称赞并摩顶，他出定广说十行的法门，并一一分别其行相（《十行品》第二十一）。

功德林菩萨又对诸菩萨说菩萨十无尽藏的一一行相，由此能令一切行者成就无尽大藏（《十无尽藏品》第二十二）。

尔时，慧林菩萨承佛威力,普观十方而说颂言：

Then the bodhisattva Forest of Wisdom, imbued with the power of Buddha, looked over the ten directions and said in verse, 

001

世间大导师，Excellent teacher of the world,

离垢无上尊，most venerated, free from defilements,

不可思议劫，Across unfathomable eons,

难可得值遇。how rare it is to encounter him.

002

佛放大光明，Buddha radiates resplendent light,

世间靡不见，visible to all in the world.

为众广开演，For the multitudes, he expounds vast teachings,

饶益诸群生。benefiting all beings.

003

如来出世间，The Tathagata comes into the world,

为世除痴冥，to remove the darkness of ignorance.

如是世间灯，Such light as he brings to the world

希有难可见。is a rare sight to behold.

004

已修施戒忍，Having cultivated generosity, ethical discipline, patience,

精进及禅定，joyous perseverance, serenity,

般若波罗蜜，And wisdom – all to perfection,

以此照世间。with these, he illuminates the world.

005

如来无与等，The Tathagata is unequaled;

求比不可得，nothing can be found to compare with him.

不了法真实，Without understanding the true nature of reality,

无有能得见。one cannot perceive him.

006

佛身及神通，Buddha’s form and supernatural powers,

自在难思议，such mastery beyond fathoming,

无去亦无来，Without going or coming,

说法度众生。he teaches Dharma to liberate all.

007

若有得见闻， If anyone sees or hears this

清净天人师，pristine teacher of the earth and heavens,

永出诸恶趣，One will forever transcend the miserable realms,

舍离一切苦。and be freed from all suffering.

008

无量无数劫，If one devotes countless eons,

修习菩提行，to cultivate in the bodhisattva practices,

不能知此义，Without knowing this reality,

不可得成佛。one cannot attain Buddhahood.

009

不可思议劫，One may, for immeasurable eons,

供养无量佛，make offerings to limitless Buddhas,

若能知此义，Yet by knowing this reality alone,

功德超于彼。one’s merits surpass even that.

010

无量刹珍宝，Though one fills boundless worlds with precious jewels,

满中施于佛，and offers them all to the Buddhas,

不能知此义，One could never attain enlightenment still,

终不成菩提。without knowing this reality.
