【Relying on the Teacher】- Rejoicing

This joyful feeling [about ourselves possessing the good qualities of a student] is sustained in the mind. This kind of self-rejoicing is the best form of cultivation. So let us reflect on the Ten Great Aspirations [also known as the seven branches of worship of the Bodhisattva of Great Deeds Samantabhadra], one of them is the good qualities of rejoicing. What is rejoicing? This merit is a positive quality – a good deed. Although you are not engaging in it [i.e. the good deed], however, because these are good qualities, you gladly rejoice. This good quality does not only apply to [the one who has achieved it] – it is to rejoice in others’ and our own good qualities. Because of the praise and delight within and rejoicing accordingly, this is when we are cultivating – this is the best way to increase our merits. Some of these concepts were introduced before, which included the disadvantages. By rejoicing in this manner, your mental stream is aligned with the Dharma; this is one of them [benefit of rejoicing]. [Translator’s Note: This snippet is taken from Master’s explanation about rejoicing with ourselves when we possess the good qualities of a student.
